Crazy Stupid Love Review
Now that the Oscars are over, I figured I'd review some underrated films. These are films that aren't necessarily considered "great" but that I feel are exceptional films. Today, let's take a brief look at one of my favourite chick flicks of the decade; Crazy Stupid Love. Truly an underrated gem. The film is packed with laughs, great writing, great acting, and I mean I'll even admit, anytime Ryan Gosling is in a film you have no choice but to smile. If you haven't checked this out do it.now before you continue reading. Crazy Stupid Love is a rom com with a twist. Middle aged Cal Weaver (Steve Carrell) gets dumped by his wife (Julianne Moore) who is having a "midlife crisis". At a bar, Cal is approached by Jacob (Ryan Gosling), a young, attractive man who promises to turn Cal into a ladies man. Cal takes up his offer and quickly becomes a "Cassanova". Meanwhile, Cal's children's baby sitter (Jessica) has a crush on Cal, while Cal's 13 year old son has a crush on Jessica. There's also a romance that blooms between Jacob and Hannah (Emma Stone). Don't want to tell you more about that, trying to keep the spoilers to a minimum. Anyway, what makes Crazy Stupid Love unique is that despite the serious subject matter, the film never takes itself too seriously. It's light, it's fun. But at the same time I think it reminds us that even though love isn't easy, it's so much more worth it to put yourself out there and go for it. Being vulnerable is a strength. And even if love is crazy and stupid, it's still something we should strive for. I really feel this will be considered a classic in 50 years. It's that good. If you haven't seen it please do, there's so much this film has to offer than this little review talks about. It's on Netflix , what are you waiting for?
